Is it possible to keep different SID for database and SAP ?
If we can, then do we need to change any configuration for that ?
Hello Zaheer,
Of course yes you can have two different SIDs for DB and SAP.
Firstly when you install DB you have to specify SID for DB. Say XYZ.
When you install SAP you will be asked which DB to connect then you can give XYZ and also you will be asked a SID for SAP which can be totally different say ABC.
Thanks & Regards,
Vijith

Hi,
One thing is the SID (SAP System ID) and another is the database instance name. Both names CAN BE different. Usually when you perform a new instalation you are asked for the SID and db name, here you can put different names.
I wouldnt change the name afterwards (when your system is already in Production) is not a good practice (even though everything is possible).
Hope it helps you.
