hi

for configuration VOV7

Item category controls what the item does in the sales docs and in any later processing for that business transaction, it controls the sales docs. and affects the schedule line category.

The system uses an item category to process a material differently in each sales doc. type . In inquiry the standard item is priced but not relevant for delivery and for the free of charge item no pricing & no delivery but in sales order both the items are relevant for delivery and pricing.

Item category controls document, billing, pricing, delivery/shipping and incompletion log.

1) whether the item refers to MMR or text or value item

2)whether schedule lines allowed

3)wghether pricing is relevant

4)whether billing is relevant

schedule lines

vov6 for configuration

The schedule line category is used by the system to determine if the item is relevant for delivery. Only those items that have a scehdule line assigned will have a delivery created for them.

Item Category:

A classification that distinguishes between different types of item (for example, free of charge items and text items) and determines how the system processes the item.

The system proposes an item category. If alternatives are defined for your system, you can change the item category manually in the sales document.

If, for example, you identify an item as a free or charge item, you tell the system, in this case, to ignore normal pricing procedures.

Ex.: TAN – Standard Item, TANN – Free of Charge Item etc.

Schedule Lines:

The division of an item in a sales document according to date and quantity.

The schedule line category controls whether schedule lines in delivery schedules are relevant for planning and/or delivery. The system determines this category on the basis of the planning indicator in the forecast delivery schedule, then in the just-in-time (JIT) delivery schedule.

To configure schedule line categories for scheduling agreements, choose Sales > Sales Documents > Schedule lines > Define or Assign schedule line categories in Customizing for Sales and Distribution.

For example, if the total quantity of an item can only be delivered in four partial deliveries, the system creates four schedule lines and determines the appropriate quantities and delivery dates for each schedule line.
