Hi,
This will be based on Business requirement. which is provided by your Business analyst/client,They will prepare the Business documentation which explains about the Business & the XI Landscape..
Based on that Functional Spec. which is provided by your functional team, we have to prepare the technical documentation which explains about the scenarios and usage of adapters.
Refer this..
XI implementation methodology worksheet...
I hope this will help you..

Hi Srinivas,
Functional Spec : This described about the functional[business] related stuff. In XI point of View, it holds the SLD information and Mappings logic for each field
Technical Spec: This describes about the Pure Technical. Depending on the Fuc Spec we prepare with extra Develpoment information. This holds the IR[Data types, Messaetypes, Mapping objects, Imported Idocs..etc] and ID[ Party, CC, Receveir determination information.... and Adapter information also].
I hope it is clear for you..
Warm Regards,
Vijay.

HI,
For installating XI, the hardware requirement depends upon the no of users
but 200Gb HDD, 4Gb Ram will be enough.
Window 2003 server will be needed if installing XI 7.0

Vikas

You need to have the following data to prepare technical or functional spec for XI:
1) Business needs and requirements like desired functionality, business process.
2) Data requirement like mapping objects, interface objects etc.
