Hi all,
I have two main questions.
First:
What are the limitations of the trial version against the commercial version?
Specifically It is written:
SAP NetWeaver Application Server, Java EE 5 Edition
SAP Composition Tools
SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (with Java EE support), based on Eclipse Callisto
MaxDB 7.6 database
Web Dynpro
Which are the composition tools? and
Is the Service registry and repository for service management missing?
Second:
What manuals, tutorials or documents are good for beginners?
Thanks in advance
Best regards
v s

thanx for the replies. As I understand, there is no functionality limitations against the productive version. The only thing that i am a little bit qurious about is the service registry and repository.
I wonder where the services are saved and what is the use of the service registry in the trial version.
Best regards

Hi,
to start with, the links provided by Abhijith represent a nice overview of the documentation delivered with <b>the older version (SAP NetWeaver 7.0)</b>, and are of no help regarding the SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1.
To your questions, v s:
1) >>> What are the limitations of the trial version against the commercial version?
The main differences are that the trial has limited license (30-day, which can be extended to 90-days). It's only a developer installation (i.e. compared to productive install options in the commercial one)
2) >>> Which are the composition tools?
This should comprise:
- the Composite Application Framework (CAF) - a framework for model-driven development of business logic and persistence of composite applications. More information <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/49/80b066798a4ba2a1e26ce93997e839/frameset.htm">here</a>.
- the Visual Composer - a tool for visual modeling of user interfaces used by composite applications. More information <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/04134e8a5741dee10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm">here</a>.
- the Guided Procedures, which a framework for orchestration of services into user-centric, collaborative processes. More information <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/fb/5e6f4169e25858e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm">here</a>.
3) >>> Is the Service registry and repository for service management missing?
The Services Registry <b>is part of the trial version</b>. The Enterprise Services Repository is not part of it, neither in the commercial release of SAP NW CE 7.1, SP01.
However, if you're interested in consuming enterprise services defined in the Enterprise Services Repository, you might want to check the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/explore-es">ES Workplace</a> area on SDN. It provides access to enterprise services definitions in hosted backend systems, which you can use in your composite applications in SAP NW CE 7.1.
4) >>> What manuals, tutorials or documents are good for beginners?
A good number of getting started tutorials and sample code is available if you browse the Welcome page of your developer studio. You can open it by selecting Help -> Welcome from the main menu of the developer studio.
In the Tutorials tag page, you can find getting started tutorials for different technologies included in the composition environment. In the Samples tab page, you can click on the links to import the sample apps code right to your Developer Studio workspace and play around with them.
In addition, if you'd like to get an overview of what a composite application is, I'd recommend reading <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/beddad24a252f5e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm">the following section</a> in the Developer's Guide.
Last, but not least, the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/46/0b5d04cb774f08e10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm">following page</a> in the documentation gives a good overview of the overall documentation delivered with the product.
Hope that helps!

Ivanov mentioned almost everything. But for Service Registry maybe this helps:
In the trial version upto this time there are no service available in Service Registry and so UDDI is also not used. So you will not able to find any services from the service registry. If you have more interest about CE Service Registery please go through the link. Here you will also find the Service Registery configuration as well.
