Visual composer fails to start

Former Member

Hi everybody!

I've installed SAP VC on my notebook (running Windows XP SP2). Also I installed MS SQL server Developer Edition (ver. 8.00.194). IIS is a part of XP.

When I'm trying to launch Visual composer via shortcut on my desktop, I recieve following error:

"Fatal error: No Visual composer serverwas found at specified address. (Error reading server parameters in url:bin/gm1433030.asp)"

Status bar shows this error while trying to access http://myhost.mydomain/VCServer/winsvc.exe?get15301740

What have I done wrong?

P.S. I've read note 817495. Seems that all is correct. Analyzer also states that.

I think it could be something with users/passwords, but my user belongs to administrators...

Anything else?

Hi Dennis,

Try accessing the following link directly in your ie browser.

http://Yourserver:1080/vcserver

If after specifying the port you still cannot access the server, check to make sure the IIS service is running properly

http://yourserver

Let me know how that goes.

Cheers,

Scott

Hi Scott!

When I'm trying to access VC with 'server-name:port', I recieve exactly same error (that's because port number is 80 - default one).

When I'm trying to access server itself, I recieve 500 Internal server error. I think it's because I did not configured any sites on this IIS, I do not need them.

Also I noticed, that in Windows event log (System) I've got several warnings from W3SVC, saying:

"Server can not start application '/LM/W3SVC/1/Root/VCServer'. Error: 'Class not registered'."

I could be a bit wrong, because I translated this from russian, but main clue is alike.

Thanks in advance for reply.

Thanks everybody!

Scott, your advice pointed me to right direction somehow 🐵

The solution is described at http://msmvps.com/bernard/archive/2005/03/22/39216.aspx

After following this doc, everything worked out.

Thanks again.

Hi Dennis,

Reason could be b'cos of the operating system.

Pre-requisites for SAP VC is Windows 2000 or Windows 2003.

If you get the error No Visual Composer server was not found then solution is given in sap note 817495

Make sure the 'enable parents path' is checked in the IIS: IIS -> default web site -> properties -> home directory -> Configuration -> App Options -> enable parents path

for troubleshooting use SAP Note 772559.

Hope this helps.

thanks,

Praveen

Hi Praveen!

Seems that I mentioned, that I've read first note and found that everything is correct according to its contents. I also said that I used Analyzer (from the second note you pointing to), and it's saying that everything correct.

I do not think that problem is in XP itself, because it does not differ to much from 2000 and 2003.
