Hello SAP Prof,
1.why do we need a separate release order for contracts and why cannot we use the same std order for release purpose also?
2..how do we know that contract is still pending at the time of order entry?
Hi Rajesh,
the quantity and value contracts will not have schedule line, hence we can to delivery with them. The release orders created with reference to contracts will have schedule lines and hence relevant for delivery.
Schedule line agreements have schedule lines and delivery due list is created automatically as per the schedule lines. For Schedule line agreement, we do not have to create release orders. Following are ways of creating release orders:
1. Create release orders with reference to contracts or check the field - Open Outline agreement messages" in contract document type
"Open Outline agreement messages" in contract document type, will make the system to search for any open outline agreements for the customer and materials specified in sales order. You can select the dialog box or list of relevant contracts based n the customization settings.
You can also go to individual contracts and find the open items or values or check its status from status overview.

1.we can use std order as release order also. but setting like ref to contract mandatory can not used exclusively, because we may ref quot or not ref any doc in standard order
2.by customizing in relase order- ref mandatory and field contact messages
