Moving new KF to SNP Planning Area

Hi,

We have created new KF which is not available in our production environment.

KF are in our Development / Quality system.

Before moving the KF to Production Environment to SNP Planning area the following activities are planned.

1.De-Initializing the SNP Planning area in Production.

2.Moving the new KF to the Production Environment.

3.Re-Initializing the SNP Planning area.

Can someone let me know whether the above activities are enugh or anyother pre cautinary activities need to be done.

Hello Valavan -

Before you move the new KF to SNP Planning Area you need to do the following steps

1) Take a back up of your planning area as if you dont then during de-initialization you will lose all the data associated with the planning area.

Also look at the following excerpt from help.sap.com

Here you can change the properties of the key figures of a planning area, if the planning area has already been initialized. You can also add or delete key figures. However, you can only delete key figures that are no longer used in planning books, data views, macros, or demand forecasts. You can find out in which objects a specific key figure is used with the where-used list.

Only experienced users should be allowed to delete key figures or change key figure properties in initialized planning areas. If you make changes here, the time series objects have to be adjusted directly in liveCache and in the database. Since these changes are time-consuming, we recommend that you make the changes to key figure properties in the background.

I assume this KF is being used in a planning area and you have a transport management system and procedure in place for taking it to prodn

If you have this KF in your Dev/Test environment in the relevant planning book and planning area, you should be able to transport this with the Planning area and planning book.

Is it a Time Series keyfigure or Order Series keyfigure? also which version of APO are you on.

If you are having additional Timeseries keyfigures in the SNP Planning Area you need to back up the data into an Infocube prior to De-initialisation of the SNP Planning Area. Likewise post reinitialisation load the data from cube to the Timeseries keyfigures.

Check the macros especially if the keyfigure is used in any of the macro and if the added keyfigure changed sequence of keyfigures in SNP Planning Books. Activate the macros as required.

I am sure you have already considered changes required in terms of batch jobs.
