Hello..

Can any body tell me ....when we use different kind of communication channel ...like ABAP Proxy and diff adapters....

Basically i wanted to know at what scenario we use these different types....

Thanks for u r reply.... Yes ..i know that there are diff kind of Adapters for different functionality...

But my concern is ..when we use ABAP Proxy and when we use adpters.

Hi,

ABAP proxies can be used to connect XI with SAP systems 6.20 and higher ( and ONLY SAP systems ).

Consider ABAP proxies as an alternative to the normal IDOC and/or RFC adapter ( which are typically used for < 6.20 systems - actually they are the only alternative ) .

Other adapters like JMS, RNIF, SOAP, ... are used to connect your XI system with non-SAP systems ...

A communication channel is simply an indication for a SPECIFIC partner on which adapter you are using and the details required to use that adapter for that specific partner ( phew that sounds complicated but it is not ... )
