Posting block Vs Freezing Book Inventory

Hi all.,

During PI count, there is an option to Block the Material. In this scenario, there can be no movement of material either GI or GR, right?

In freeze book inventory as well, "we can freeze the book inventory balance in the

physical inventory document. This is to prevent the book inventory balance, which is relevant for physical inventory, from being changed by any movements". So the terms of Movement should mean either GR or GI, right?

Now, how similar or different are these two conditions during PI?

Appreciate all the help

In case of a posting block which is generally enforced during count & till entering the count no goods movement is permitted.

But in the case of the freezing block the book Inventory is frozen only for the purpose of the physical Inventory, whereas the goods movement continue to be allowed by the system.

For eg:

The book inventory at the time of freezinng is 50 pc and the count during the inventory is 40pc, the system would consider and calculate the difference for posting to be (the difference of frozen book Inventory and the actual count) say 10 pc only.Meanwhile assume before posting of this count there was a GR posted for 50 pc then the current book Inventory Balance would be 100pc (50+50pcGR).If the book balance were not frozen, then the system would account the difference in the count & the book balance as 60pc instead.

I hope the above explanation is clear to you.

Thanks & Regards,
