SAP guru's:-
plz provied ur guidance for us, SHIFT DEPRECIATION, i am not able understanding the website, steps, plz give ur knowledgein the configuration steps. plz share the ur guideance.
Hi Ameer,
Depreciation is charge on the use of the Asset. When an asset is bound to be used for multiple shifts, the value of the asset depreciates much faster. To follow the matching concept of accounting rules more depreciation is to be charged on the assets used in multiple shifts.
Even in the legislations seperate dep. rates are provided for multiple shifts.
To configure the same in SAP mention one of the followng values in Maintain Depreciation Key> Assignment of Calculation Methods> Field Multiple Shifts.
The values are as under:
1.The depreciation and the expired useful life are increased (thereby
reducing the remaining useful life).
2.Depreciation is increased, the remaining useful life is not reduced.
3.Depreciation is not increased, and remaining useful life is not
reduced.
Hope to address you query in full.
Regards,
Vijay

Hi Ameer
Shift depreciation is relevant when the business would like to depreciation the plant and machinery based on the shift factory. for Eg, machine running 2 shift or 3 shift will be depreciated according to number of shift worked. You have to activate the shift factor in the asset master record.
thanks
