Serial number specific to plant

Hi experts

1) Is possible to have same Material & Serial number combination for different Company Codes within the same Client or different Plants within the same Company Code?

2) Is the serial numbering through number range object or built in program? Please indicate the area for number range maintenance.

3) Is it possible to use any user exit to codify for having number range specific to org unit (example: plant)

Hi Sairam,

1) the combination of matl code & ser. no. is unique only at the client level. There is no customization to make it unique by adding the plant code too.

2) There is no serial number object in SNRO for the serial nos.

3) Check this function module EXIT_SAPLIPW1_001. It might work by maintaining a Z table with number ranges for different plants.

Is it allows same number assignment for a specific material in other plant?
