In R/3 extraction delta load , how will SAP come to know that its a delta load .

Plz tell me in detail if possible with an illustration ..

Hello Sruthi

1. BW don't knows and never worried about the data whether it is delta or full

2. Delta is source system Property so delta is maintained there.

3. To define delta first we need to send initial data which will work as the base for delta mechanism. you do it by initializing the delta by running init package.

4. Now if new records or changed record comes system generates the images of the incomming data with AI,BI,RI..so on based on the delta supported by the source system. you can check it in ROSOURCE table.You can check these images in RODELTAM...

Let me explain you with help of 0RECORDMODE.you would see the significance of the 0RECORDMODE if you look at the change log table of the ODS. When the data is loaded for the first time the 0RECORDMODE would get assigned a value "N". Now if you reload the data after sometime and lets say 1 of the records were modified then there will be 2 additional records in the change log table with 0RECORDMODE "X" and "" where X corresponds to Before image and "" corresponds to After image. So when you do a delta from the ODS the system automatically picks up the changed records from the ODS (using the change log table) based on the 0RECORDMODE value.

Before running delta we initialize delta to set a timestamp in the source system from which the system tracks all changes to the relevant data and posts it to the delta queue. You can do a delta initialization with or without data transfer

hi

when u create a DS it is defined if a DS is delta enabled or not

and if u want to see use rsa3 transaction for that.

While defining the data source, it should be set whether the data source is delta enables or not.
