Dear All Experts,
I have a confussion. I have taken backup of my development server on 200 G.B USB hard drive. It has used compression. ALL the DATAFILES are stored on to the disk which have the extension ".Z".
So the backup data has been stored is in compressed form. Will it have any problem in recovery procedure.
If recovery or restore has to be done then how to do that...
Can anybody help me to proceed if in case I need to do recovery or restore of the backup which is compressed form.
Thanks
Bhaskar
The extension ".Z" means, that the "compress" program was used to backup your data.
In recovery case that program must be existent (either in your kernel directory if you´re on Windows or somewhere in the PATH if you´re on Unix).

Know which type of backup you have taken?
Backup in Compressed form no problem for backup or restore
To recovery you need to restore some files it depends on type of recovery.
Dont worry I guess you can uncompress while restoring or just check for one sample file..
