MOVEMENT TYPE - How to remember codes

Former Member

Hi ,

I am new to SAP. I can see there are so many Movement types are available in standard system. Wondering how can one (I mean , SAP consultant ) remember all these codes.

Is there any way for that ?

Although I can see in MB1A (goods issue) and MB1B ( transfer posting) , I can get my desired Movement Type using MOVEMENT TYPE option of MENU BAR.

But what about GOODS RECEIPT like MIGO , I don't find such menu in this T CODE.

Can u pls help to explain the reason and way to remember MOVEMENT TYPES

HI sandeep,

Its very easy to remember Mvt types.

If you are using MIGO,combination of acton and ref doc will give the set of t codes.

for ex if u r using A01 GR and R01 PO it will display the Mvt types which are relevant for this combination

one easy way to remember mvt types:

for GR mvt types starts with 1

for GI mvt types starts with 2

for Transfer Posting mvt type starts with 3

rev mvt type= +1

reward if useful

Hi

I hate to disagree with my learned colleagues but although basic GR's begin with 1 and GI with 2 what about

Goods issue to customer = 601

Goods issue to Scrapping 551,553 and 555

Goods receipt from crapping 552, 554 AND 556

Goods receipt wiythout PO 501

Goods receipt without production order 521

Possibly a few more.

The remembering of movement types will come over time and with experience. As previously stated start with the basics.

I get the same question on every project, 'How do you remenmber all those mvt types' and my answer is always 'give it 6 months and you will know the majority' It normally comes true.

Thx Girish and Pavan for your help.

One more question , why MOVEMENT TYPE menu is not available in MIGO Transaction , as I can see in MB1A and MB1B , is there any specific reason for that.

sorry for asking such stupid questions )

Hi Sandeep

nothing is a stupid question when we need to know.

MIGO is given by SAP as enjoy transaction and the feature is to club all the screens which are relevent to all the material movements.

but MB1A, MB1B etc are specific purpose like goods receipt,or goods issue, or transfer posting so they have given menu for each of them.

but in MIGO u can do all the material movements visibly GR,GI,TF etc.

Hi

The rule is simple " when u work more U remember more"

but i can give u some advice on that.

first of all there are only few movement types.i mean that from 101 to 731.

try to classify them. for example 100 series is goods receipts

200 series is goods issues.

300 series is transfers

700 is physical inventory etc.

then the things will be clear.

and one more thing is there is no need to remember all the Movt types.

remember only few which are very important and different than rest.

try to remember them according to business processes.
