Dear HK7,

When we go for any SAP implementation we generally map the business process with SAP, this leads to lot of deviation from standard SAP ( this is one of the reason why SAP career comes under business consulting). This deviation costs money. There are some companies whose business process is very flexible or very generic. For those companies not much change is required in standard SAP.

For these companies Vanilla implementation is recommended.

The biggest advantage is that it is less in cost as I have already said any deviation from standard SAP increases the cost.

the biggest disadvantage is that it may lead to change in business process ( if SAP is deployed without BPR-Business Process Reengineering).

Hope this helps you.

Do award points if you found them useful.

Rakesh

P.S. you can send me a mail at my mail id rakeshsinghchauhan@gmail.com for any specific details

It's a software that is not customized from its original form, meaning that it is used either without any customization or update applied to it or with minimal customization.

Hi,

Vanilla SAP is the SAP implementation that is done without including any enhancements or any Z processes. It s totally standard SAP impelmentation. For this the customer has to carry out a major organisational change and the processes also have to be changed in accordance with the standard SAP processes.

Normally in an SAP implementation somewhat non standard practices are implemented to suit the customer's requirements. But in VANILLA SAP IMPLEMENTATION , the customer has to change the processes as per the standard SAP functionalitites.

Reward points if solution helps.

Vanilla implementation is the implementation of functionalities provided by standard SAP without any enhancements or new Zprocesses added to the system.

In a Vanilla implementation, there will be big change at the orgnisational level as they have to follow the new processes after implementation. hence the rate of acceptance may be little lessthan an implementation with functionalities tuned to the reqmt of the client.

Vanilla implementation is done when the firm wants to follow the processes as prescribed by SAP, dont want to spend lavishly on the implementation etc.
