Upgrade SAP 4.0b to 6.0 - Oracle 9i...???

Our question is about Oracle 9 or 10... and the SAP migration kit.

We do know:

- We can go from 4.0b to 6.0 directly, but we are not sure about going to Oracle 10e in 4.0b (which it does not run) or staying in 9i...

- We know that the kit ONLY runs 10e...

We have this current system:

IBM AIX 5.3.0.0

ORACLE, version 9.2.0.8 (from 8 to 9 recently)

SAP 4.0B sp 86

Going to:

SAP 6.0... on either Oracle 9 or 10...

Regards and thanks, Ruben

ERP 6.0 runs

ONLY

on 10g, you can´t run on 9.2, you can do the PREPARE with 9.2 though.

Kernels lower than 7.00 use the Oracle client 9.2 to connect to the database and since 4.0B (with kernel 40B_EXT) runs the 9.2 client you can use it.

Hello,

Markus is correct, you can use Oracle 10g with 4.0B if the kernel is the extended one, the orqcle client is (at least 9.2.0.7)

But keep in mind that

- 10g was not released by SAP for 4.0B, the combination is not supported by SAP. you can only run this combination for a brief period of time until you upgrade

- Monitoring transactions like db02, ST04 will probably fail or have errors due to this
