why do we need adobe interactive forms and why cant we use html forms to take the inputs from user and update into sap using BSP or WDA or WDJ.
HI Vinay,
Whether to use Using Adobe Interactive forms or not is a decision which has to be taken after considering a lot of factors. Generally, Adobe Interactive Forms are used to automate processes which have been tradionally using Paper based forms, such as the forms for requesting Equipement, Employee transfer etc. This ensures that the user does not migrate to an entirely new interface and is comfortable using the interface.
Secondly, Adobe Interactive forms provide you the flexibility to work <b>Offline</b> as data can be saved in the forms and can be used later to be submitted to a back end such as SAP.
Thirdly, it provides you the ease of printing the forms as in other applications such as made using BSP/WebDynpro etc , we have to put in effort/coding to enable printing.
Fourthly, it is specially beneficial in Print Scenarios, such as in printing Invoices etc, where the tradional use of SAP Scripts/Smart forms has been very tedious.
Finally,We can use custom Java Script in Adobe Interactive Forms using which we can do validations and much more. Writing custom Javascripts is not possible in WebDynpro.
Numerous other factors can be cited, but the use of one technology over involves careful consideration of the pros and cons of the technology.
Hope these inputs help you in evaluating the technology to be used.
Thanks,
Regards,

hi,
one advantage is that you can work on the form offline...."the Offline Scenario"
you can save data into the form offline, then you can mail them or upload them into the system.
pdf forms are extensively used for sending data over the internet for the ease of use etc.

SAP doesn't support BSPs any longer, plus there is a lot more flexibility with adobe forms. PDF is a widely recognized standard and developing the processes doesn't require any coding (except scripting) depending on the framework you use.
You don't need to use adobe forms, but it is the way of the future.
