46C -> ECC 6.0 || Problem in PREPARE

Former Member

Hello All!

I'm initializing PREPARE and when running option 1 on SAPUP menu, this message is displayed:

Message . . . . : Function check. CEE9901 unmonitored by PREPAREOS4 at

statement 0000046300, instruction X'0000'.

Viewing joblog, the first error is:

Message ID . . . . . . : CPDB9C9 Severity . . . . . . . : 30

Message type . . . . . : Diagnostic

Date sent . . . . . . : 08/15/07 Time sent . . . . . . : 13:16:00

Message . . . . : Internal system error. Error code is -72.

Cause . . . . . : An internal error occurred loading i5/OS PASE program

/usr/sap/put/bin/SAPup.

Recovery . . . : Try the request again. If the problem persists, report the

problem using the Analyze Problem (ANZPRB) command.

SAPUP is up-to-date. Can anyone help me what kind of "internal error" is this?

Thank for all help!

Hi Andre,

I was just wondering if you have the PASE (Portable App Solutions Environment ) installed on your AS400 system (Option 33 for 5722SS1), as with the these new release ( guess 620 and above..you need PASE installed on the system)

Looks like that may be the probelm...

Also check the following:

- logon to OS/400 level (SECOFR)

- execute CALL QP2TERM > this will open a shell, similar to QShell- execute ls -lL /QOpenSys/usr/lib/libdb400.a > output must be: -rwxr r 1 qsys 0 208138 Mar 16 2004

/QOpenSys/usr/lib/libdb400.a

Please pay special attention to the file size and date. In case it woulddiffer from the above one, then PASE must be reinstalled. Don't copy

the libdb400.a file from another machine - it would not work!

Let me know, if that is the case..

Thanks

Hi Abhi!

Yes, PASE is installed. But when I run commands which use PASE, this message always is displayed......

Message ID . . . . . . : CPDB9C9 Severity . . . . . . . : 30

Message type . . . . . : Diagnostic

Date sent . . . . . . : 08/15/07 Time sent . . . . . . : 15:08:3

Message . . . . : Internal system error. Error code is -72.

Cause . . . . . : An internal error occurred loading i5/OS PASE program

/QOpenSys/usr/bin/sleep.

I've tried to run the command that you sent... :_(((

What was the output of the command I sent you?

If that is not the output, you may need to install PASE again.

Did you check in "GO LICPGM" if the there is any error with the PASE application?

Let me know..

2)Unix DB2 UDB for z/OS

3)Windows DB2 UDB for UNIX and Windows

4)Windows DB2 UDB for z/OS

Hi Kamal,

sorry to say, but if you even do not know, that AS/400 is called iSeries since about 5+ years, you should rather leave this upgrade or should get somebody in the back, that knows what to do ...

But as I said - it is:

5)IBM eServer iSeries DB2 UDB for iSeries

Dear Volker,

Thanks for sharply pointing out. Previously I executed version upgrades mainly in Windows / Solaris environments.

Owning experience in windows / solaris domains, doesnot mean that I shouldnot try out on other new domains.

Instead of bluntly pointing out like AS/400 is called iSeries since about 5 years, you should rather leave this upgrade or should get somebody in the back, that knows what to do ..., this community should appreciate and encourage learners.

I would really appreciate, if you could encourage learners instead of pointing out. Moreover we are planningto execute on sandbox , not on production system.

Btw, thanks a lot for your reply.. It really shed a lot of light ..esp. a fool like me.

Hi Kamal,

sorry to say again:

iSeries is a little bit different to the other platforms - without ANY platform specific knowledge I didn't see any useful upgrades on this platforms - sorry to say that.

For sure, we are all happy when i5-newbies like you do this, but you should have at least a person in background, that gives you a clou on the "typical diffs" and special issues etc. - otherwise it will "become interesting" - especially as there are issues, that typically happen on PRD only ...

Hi Volker

Even I had suggested my client that I shall not do this upgrade. Since I have done many Successful Go-live's for them, they insist that I should oversee this one too.

Thanks a lot. I will consider your suggestion.

Kamal

If no one has an idea I think you'll need to open an OSS call..

I don't have any other idea - maybe Hannes has

I've already opened an OSS ticket, but always check with the experts wether they have a good idea!

Thank you!

good

Maybe this is just-another-yet-not-on-the-actual-APAR-or-PTF-problem...

Yes, maybe is this... I have ordered PTFs some days ago, but didn't arrive yet.

I thought which this error could be occurred due to lack of last ptfs, but on joblog I saw that ptfs were checked and passed. :_(
