Hi,

we are using MDM5.5 SP5.

we are trying for automatic import..

the port is defined as inbound / automatic.

Map is also assigned to port and we are using format of xml ....

we have started the service for import server and when we place an .xml file in the inbound ready folder of the port the file vanishes after the polling interval but we cant see the file after that in any of the folders.....

its not in archive, status, log, or exception folder....

plus when we see the reports in the console the follwing message is displayed.

The XML page cannot be displayed

Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

the port status is showign as empty.....

plus the data has not come into data manager as well.

What are we missign out on?

Please help!

Check if exists others "Distributions" structures. I had some problems: sometime, a new structure were created and MDIS didnt see the correct structure.

Try deleting the log files and restarting the server.

If anything, it will atleast give you a readable Log file

Hi Jo,

Things looks pretty fine at high level, lets do the analysis from this point, if you still having the problem then we will change the approach.

Fine all I need is validate the XML file using some XMLSPY software, becaz its look like XML file is corrupted one.

please feel free to revert to me for further calrifications..

thanks

Alexander

Hi Jyotika,

your MDIS.ini shows that your verbose mode is set to off:

<b>Verbose=0x0000</b>

The Verbose parameter controlls the MDIS logging. As it is set to off in your case, MDIS doesn't log anything. If you switch verbose to ON, MDIS will log every single action. If the logs are to large, you can limit the logging by using one of the settings below:

-- FI Verbose: 0x0001

-- XML Verbose: 0x0002

-- MAP Verbose: 0x0004

-- THRD Verbose: 0x0008

-- PARSER Verbose: 0x0010

-- STRUCTX Verbose: 0x0020

-- VALUEX Verbose: 0x0040

-- IMPORTX Verbose: 0x0080

-- CHUNK Verbose: 0x0100

-- VxR Verbose: 0x0200

First of all, thanks a lot for all your valuable suggestions!

Hi Alex,

I checked the XML file in XMLspy...its a valid xml...

Hi Evandro,

I checked, no other distributions structures exist.

Hi Venkat,

I deleted the logs file and tried again and it gave me the following error...

RC: 0x83000002 WinSock error on connect

Hi Michael,

The Verbose tip really helped.

To All:

The problem still persists though.

The file is still not getting picked from the ready folder.

1. The thing is that our MDM server in in germany on linux.

and we are not aware if the MDIS service on the server is running or not.

because i dont have the linux id to check it.

will check this with my german colleagues tomorrow.

I have installed the .exe for MDIS on my local machine and using control panel

services GUI i am starting the MDIS service locally on my machine. since i

have installed MDIS locally i am getting the mdis.ini file locally on my

machine and have made all the settings to the mdis file.

Do you all think this will work?

Should the MDIS service always be installed on the server and be started from

germany where the MDM server is?

2. Another thing is that in the console in repository -> reports i have only seen

one record of type 'import'.

That means that atleast once the MDIS service worked right?

other than that there are a lot of records of type 'workflow' and 'load'.

Thanks!

Hi Jo,

Kindly copy the content of the file which available under the local folder of ur machine:

Filename(sample) : ImportManagerBat@@U@060614@130503

Path : Program Files\SAP MDM5.5\Import Server

that should talk abt the reason for the Import server failure....

please feel free to revert to me for further clarifications....

thanks

Alexander

Hi Alex,

Thanks a lot for your quick reply!

I do not have any log file on my local machine....

because i have not installed MDIS locally....

Our MDM server is in germany and its installed on linux system....

through linux commands can we access this log file?

We are logging onto the linux system using a GUI based tool calle WINSCP...Its similar to telnet...where we can see all the server folders....and there in the log files i dont see anything ....

so what do you suggest next?

Thanks,

Jyotika

Hi Jo,

It should be there something similar to that file , there by we can easily track whether your import server is function correctly or not?? can you ask ur achitect to trace out that...

awaiting for ur reply...

thanks

Hi Alex,

It seems to be a patch problem.

We tried the same setting with another MDM server and MDIS works just fine...

Will upgrade the patch and get back to you....

Thanks for your help!
