Doubts on IDOC Scenarios

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi Experts,

1) How many Business/Technical Systems created for IDOC to File and

File to IDOC?

2) Is it necessary to create Business systems while doing above scenarios (both cases) ?

3) Is it necessary to create RFC Destination (like R/3 to XI and XI to R/3) while doing above scenarios (both cases) ?

4) What is Partner profiles? Is it necessary to choose the type while doing IDOC configurations?

Regards,

YRaj.

yes Vamsi,

You have to create port in R/3 side to send the data to XI.

Hi Ram,

I am not talking about the Sending IDOC to XI

I am Talking File --IDOC Scenario

Should we create the Port in R/3 Side Also Which is Pointing XI

Hi

As per my knowledge I still feel RFC Destination and Port is not required for File to IDoc

As mentioned here also

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/profile/2007/05/11/fileToIDOC-Part3(StepsrequiredinXIandR3)&

If anybody has more to share, please do so.

Thanks

Hi YRaj,

about partner profiles ...check this thread to under stand....

Hi YRaj,

Yes...It should require for the both cases...

because, you have to create a RFC destination of type 3 in XI system poitning to the R/3 and specify this RFC destination in the port that you created in IDX1.

Hi Shabarish,

I have seen lot of threads which explains to create RFC Destination for

File to IDOC and IDOC to File scenarios....

So, can i conclude to create RFC Destination must for both ways.

and Monika, you are saying it's not required to create for File to IDOC.

Hi,

See this thread Discussion About the RFC Destination

Yes you can conclude that RFC Destination is must for both File to IDOC or IDOC to File.

RFC Destination is useful to communicate with System. In IDOC Scenario it is necessary bcoz XI establishes connection with SAP Sytem with help of RFC Destination.

that establishes the connection between Xi and R3.

Ref:

Sent/Receive IDOC:

you need to do the following:

In XI

SM59 - R3 connection pointing to R3

IDX1 - define the port with the above dest.

In R3

SM59 - R3 connection pointing to XI

WE21 - define the port with the above dest.

WE20 - Partner profile type outbound/Inbound

Hi

One Business System and associated Technical System is to be configured in SLD (System Landscape Directory) of XI.

Similarly each for the R/3 system.

Yes its necessary to create. If not use a Business Service

RFC Destination is required for IDoc to File.It is not required for File to IDoc.

Partner profile has to be created in the receiving system of type required with the same name specified in the sender business system through WE20 transaction
