Prabudh
Hi,
Picking is the process where the stock is selected from the storage facility to fulfill a delivery. we need to pick the correct quantity of the right items for the delivery.
LT03 is used to create a pick & pack list which is done after VL01n.
I hope this is clear

hi,
it's very simple.
usually when u go to super market/mall, it would be self service.
so u will pick the required items from the counters. after that for the picked quantity, the invoice will be raised. with that invoice the delivery will happen.
like that in Standard SAP, picking is mandatory for the delivery, b'coz the system should understand and act accordingly.
due to picking, so many things will happen in the system. what are they?
examples:
1.the stock position will show. (thru MMBE- stock overview)
2. if the demand is high, we can find out the requirement thru MD04 transaction code.
i hope this would make you clear and understand.
reward points if it is useful.
regards
KR

The picking process involves taking goods from a storage location and staging the right quantity in a picking area where the goods will be prepared for shipping.
Picking with Warehouse Management allows you to use the transfer order as the picking order.
This is possible in the following scenarios:
Lean-WM
Implementation of the basic functions of the Warehouse Management module (WM) in simply-structured warehouses without stock management at storage bin level
Implementation of all functions in the Warehouse Management module (WM)
The use of the WM transfer order as a picking order offers you the following advantages:
Determining of target data for transfer orders
Splitting transfer orders according to target data
Printing transfer orders or transmitting them in IDoc format
Determining actual data for picking with option of executing incentive wage calculations using the Human Resources (HR) module
Confirming transfer orders
In addition, picking using Warehouse Management allows the use of wave picks as well as the use of dock doors and material staging areas in deliveries and transfer orders.

Hi Prabudh,
The picking concept comes in Delivery. Where you actually pick the Qty against the Sales order Qty. Picking options gives you the Flexiblity to change the Delivery Qty according to your requirement. Say you have created a Sales order of 10 nos of a X material. While doing the Delivery using T-code Vl01n the same Qty gets copied in the Delivery Qty coloumn. If you do not want to deliver the 10 nos. then you need to change the Delivery Qty & Picking Qty & then do the PGI.
Also for outbound deliveries, the picking Qty field gives the item quantity that appears on the printed picking list.
You control the Picking option using T-code 0VLP. Here enter the relevant item category which is pickedup in the Delivery document and go to Details. Here you can select the option "Relevant for Picking" if you want the item to be picked during the Delivery process.
Hope the above helps you.
REWARD if it helps you!!

Ajinkya

Hi Tiwari,
A picking request contains items to be picked for a particular delivery. Either all items of the delivery are relevant for picking (when the delivery is to be completely picked), or only those items of a delivery for which subsequent picking has been initiated. This means that for one delivery there may be several picking requests that include the various picking quantities of the item at various times. When you print out individual or collective picking lists, the system creates a picking request. The picking request number is printed out on the current picking list and is included in the document flow of the delivery.

hi,
Picking is the starting point of delivery creation.
U pick the delivery items from storage location of plant and then make the goods issue. The moment delivery document is created, Picking document & goods issue document is created in the back ground. u can see the relevant documents created by document flow option.
Unless picking is not carried away, system does not allow u to post the goods.

Praveen

<b>Picking:</b>
The process of grouping goods (materials) from the warehouse on the basis of sales orders, deliveries, or for staging materials for production.
picking is the grouping of certain partial quantities (materials) from warehouse stock on the basis of requirements from the Sales or Production department.
In the Warehouse Management System (WMS), picking takes place based on transport orders. We distinguish between picking from fixed storage bins and random picking.

Hi
Picking is nothing but removing the goods from storage location or from warehouse to be issued to customer...
