Sold to party is one of the partner functions--- you know that

When you are creating the masterdata for that partner function, you need to configure the field status in masterdata( you have to make some fields as mandatory, some as optional and so on). This is done at account group level.

So you create an account group called Sold to party and configure the fields.

When you are creating a partner function SP, you select this account group while creating customer master in VD01 or XD01 and now the fields which you have configured as Mandatory at this account group level have to be filled to complete the masterdata creation for Sold to party.

Hope this is clear.

Similarly, whenever you create a new partner function, you can mention in partner determination procedure that which account group can be treated to be performing this partner function.

hi,

as far as customer is concerned,

1.u need a person to buy or ordering the goods - sold to party.

2. when the goods buy, it has to be sent to following recipents- Ship to party or goods recipients.

3. after receiving the goods by the customer, bill will be raise - bill to party.

4. after receiiving the bills, the customer will pay for the customer- payer.

here cycle will comes to an end. like that

in std. SAP, it has given the customers as sold to party, ship to party, bill to party and the payer. it has to get assigned it to the account groups. b'coz it is required due to accounting purpose. that' why after u determining the partner procedures, the partner functions are assigning it to the account groups in the same menu.

i hope this would make you clear?

reward points if it is useful.

The account group helps you to specify a screen layout, where you can define certain fields as required, optional, display or suppressed entry.

The path where you define Account groups for customer master data is :

SPRO>IMG>Financial Accounting>Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable>Customer Accounts>Master Records>Preparations for Creating Customer Master Records-->Define Account Groups with Screen Layout (Customers)

Alternative path:

SPRO>IMG>Logistics - General>Business Partner>Customers>Control>Define Account Groups and Field Selection for Customers

Here you will find standard account groups such as 0001 - Sold to party , 0002 - Goods recipient , 0003 - Payer etc.

You can copy and create your own account groups and then define your desired screen field settings in the account group you created.

Suppose you copied account group 0001 - sold to party and created new account group Z001 - Sold to party(Robert)

Select Z001 and press F2 to view the overview screen. Under the heading <b>Field Status</b> you will find 3 sub headings:

1. general data

2. company code data

3. Sales data

Place cursor on any one of the above ( suppose you select Sales data), and click on Edit field status button.

You will find Field groups -- Sales, Shipping, Billing, Partner usage and Documents. Double click on any one (say Sales) , you will find the list of fields and their field status.

Here you can change and define your new field status settings ( as per your requirement) and save the changes. ( suppose you make sales gruop as required entry)

When you create a Sold to party using the account group Z001 , then the system will prompt you to maintain Sale Office as required field ( as set by you).

This is the primary purpose of Account groups.

Hope this will help.

Award if useful.

Sold to party is a Partner in Sales. So for this particular partner whatever customized settings we want to do for various fields we do it for that particular Account group.e.g. Sold to party. Likewise we can customize all partners used in SD like : Bill to Party, Payer, Ship to Party. These all are partners in Sales.

Customer represents one or many of these above Partners.

Also we can have different number ranges for each Account group we create.

Hi,

In VD01 what you are talking about is the account group. Don't get confused with the 'customer' or 'sold to part'. Before creating a customer we have to create an account group.

Functions of an account group:

1. Assigning the partner functions.

2. Assigning the number range to the account group.

3. Determining whether the number range is external or internal.

4. Carrying out the FIELD SELECTION.

What you ae talking about are 2 different account groups. 'Customer' and 'Sold to party'. The difference in between these 2 - MAy be the number range would be different, the partner functions selected would be different, the field selection may be different.

when you create the customer master in VD01 or XD01 there are fields which are controlled by the account group. So according to your requirement you can do the field selection. For Ex: for sold to party/ ship to party plant is important but for the comission agent plant is of no importance. So accordingly you can suppress/ display/optional or make a filed mandatory.

Hope this solves your problem.

Rewrad points if solution helps.
