defing datatype

hi i want to use a collection of fields for many times and i have created one data type for those collection of fields but here when iam using the same data type in othere data type by using search help option and when i want to add some other fields to the above data type , xi is not allowing to create and its allowint me to create other fields as aubelements so we can rectify this problem.

if u are using a Data Type DT_A in another Data type DT_B u will be allowed to only use it as a subelement but however u can add fields/ndoes to DT_B without disturbing DT_A
