ERP 2004 or ERP2005

Hi,

I have referred note 872892 regarding cookbook for ESS. Is there a way to know in system whether it is ERP 2004 or ERP 2005. Where exactly I can see this information?

We have NW 2004s with SP 09 and backend is ECC 5.0.

I am not sure which cookbook to refer for modification.

Your help greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Rakesh

Hi Rakesh,

basically ERP2004 is for NW04, ERP2005 is for NW04s so I would assume you have ERP2005.

If you look at the release notes for the system you can compare the version numbers given there agains your system info. ERP2004 has ESS 1.00, ERP2005 has ESS 6.00.

With NW04s SP 09 you should be running ERP2005 SP6, compare note 972113.

Thanks Marc.

But we have SAP R/3 ECC 5.0 a separate instance and portal (NW2004s with SP 11) separately (not in single server). Is there a requirement that what backend R/3 system should be to install BP at the portal end?

Hi Rakesh,

sorry, I missed that bit. That combination sounds strange to me and I'm not sure if that is really a supported scenario. From what I understand you have a backend with ECC 5.0 which would indicate a ERP2004 system (ERP2005 has ECC 6.0), you want to use a NW04s SP9 installation as frontend (which only supports ERP2005 as far as I know) and your portal is on a slightly different NW04s SP11 version.

I would suspect that this doesn't work and that you need ECC 6.0 as backend for the ERP2005 BPs delivered for NW04s Portal. I have no idea if BPs delivered as part of ERP2004 will work on a NW04s Portal. Have you tried asking this question in one of the SAP Solutions -> ERP forums?
