Hello!
I would like to know all the possible ways (and perhaps the prefered way) for the recovery.
According to ADM505 the BR*Tools should be used.
Can I also execute recovery from SAP? (e.g. with DB12 or DB13)
It will be great to get some helpful information in this area.
Many thank's
Regards
Thom
If you want to recover a system, there is not DB12/DB13 as time of recovery - you need a working system before

Yes - in most cases you will need to do a full recovery though - not only those "missing tables".
SAP has (depending on the version) up to 50,000 tables (or more) and if you don't know the data model behind, relations between tables etc. and even more if you have external systems connected via ALE/IDOC/RFC (BI, CRM etc.) you will produce inconcistencies if you just recover one single table.

Hi Eric?
What for Axel do you mean? Hmm, strange...
Thank's.
Is there some possibility to do inckremental backup without RMAN, in order to save free space.
I have planed the remote backup over DB 13.
Is that recommended to overwrite the old online backup with new one?
I guess, the "cds" - mode is not supported for remote back up, or?
Thank you

is there some possibility to do inckremental backup without RMAN, in order to save free space
no, incremental backups are done through RMAN only
Is that recommended to overwrite the old online backup with new one?
yes, but only after some time, let's say 5 weeks.
I guess, the "cds" - mode is not supported for remote back up, or?
if normal backups works remotely, CDS (brarchive) will also work.
