Work Processors

Upgraded to new hardware V5R4 ISeries, with 4 processors keeping 1.5 for PRD with 32 GB memory. Copied SAP 4.0B from old system to new and upgraded the kernel. SAP is working. Increased number of work processor on instance profile and started the SAP instance now OS collector is not starting it says shared memory not available?

For old system we had 2 APP server's taking the load of users. D-9 B-6 S-4 Vb-8

For new system we do not have the APP servers. We have about 400 users

We have 3 LPR's on this iSeries. One is with PRD other is with TST and DEV third we we kept for other server. My network admin brought down the server to fix the BRMS and when we bought the servers abck on line the OS collector was started. Checked with SAP... but in vain

Right now the OS collector is not started, when I try to start it says shared memory not avaliable?

I increased work process from

D-9 to D-12

B-6 to B10

Shall I keep the work process same as original? If so will the 9 Dialog process acompany 400 users?

Hi,

saposcol is a "very special" thing ... Did you update the SAPOSCOL and the PTFs up to the latest level ? If yes, please open an OSS message with BC-OP-AS4 ...

WPs ...

Batch looks too much to me and DIA looks too short for 400 users ...

You should try and limit the batches with 6-8 and then 2 of them reserved for PRIO A via operation mode switching.

The DIA jobs - the rule of thumb would be - 7 users share 1 WP ... but on the other hand 400 will never be logged on the same time ... So I would go for 25 DIA as a first shot and then this needs to be adjusted on "short nootice" ....
