System list remains empty

Former Member

Hi,

I've tried executing the "QuickStart" example given in the Visual Composer user guide. After creating model, module, page, Iview.. I'm trying to import BAPI.

Here, when I give link to the Portal I'm using, connection with the Portal is working but the System list remains empty.

( in my Portal Landscape Directory I've defined the system an user mapping for that and Its working fine)

Can anyone suggest me, where I'm going wrong.

Regards,

Mausam

Hi,

Try to add your portal URL in the trusted sites of IE.

This should work.

If it works award points.

Thanks

Hi,

As per Senthil's answer, I had made my portal's site as trusted site. And one more thing, I had removed domain name from my portal's host name. i.e. http://portal.mycompany.com:50000, I had replaced it with http://portal:50000. After these two, I'm able to connect to portal and able to see all the systems also.

Hope it helps,

Hi Christophe,

Tell your portal administrator to give the user you are using to login to portal from VC the full access to the system you are using.

Hey Deep,

Thanks for the answer.

But my user has full rights on all the systems defined in the portal but still i get this error.

Quite strange and very annoying.

With this error, you cannot get a dropdown list of systems in Visual Composer. You may even get the following error message:

"Bad or missing XML Object"

In many cases, this is due to UME issues. Check the logs to see if Visual Composer tries to login to the Portal using the user “Guest”. This would fail because “Guest” isn’t an authorized user in the Portal. To check the logs, see the sections in this document on configuring and viewing the logs. If it is a UME issue, follow these steps to solve this issue. You can see this in the defaultTrace.trc file.

1. Start the Visual Administrator.

2. Go to Server -> Services -> Security Provider

3. Under “components”, choose “ticket”.

4. In change mode, choose “com.sap.core.server.jaas.EvaluateTicketLoginModule” and choose “Modify”.

5. Make sure the flag is set as “SUFFICIENT” and you have “ume.configuration.active=true” set. Hit OK. For details on UME configuration, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cb/ac3d41a5a9ef23e10000000a155106/content.htm

If you still have a problem, let me know your email address. I'm writing a troubleshooting guide for Visual Composer, and I cover how to solve this issue in more detail.

Hi Mausam,

These are the following possibilities where you may have done something wrong.

1. System Definition: Make sure you have defined the system you want

to connect. Do the following to verify the same.

In case of "UserMapping"

Checklist:

1. System Alias is defined

2. UserManagement property of the system definition is set to "UIDPW"

3. System permissions are set to give access to end users.

eu_role/authenticated_user/or any group that you want to give access to

the system.

One of the above groups is added to the system definition and make sure

eu_role has "end user" box checked.

4. Once the steps 1 to 3 are correct then go to personalize link

(For this link

to show up the user that you logged on should have eu_role assigned),

select usermapping and see in the dropdownlist the system you

have defined

appears (Alias name)

Select the system, enter the userid and password and save.

5. Now go to the support desk and check by selecting "SAP Transaction"

if it connects automatically using the id and pwd you have

provided by doing

usermapping.

6. If step 5 works without you entering the userid/password then

you are ready to

test with Visual Composer. If not make sure step 4 is complete.

7. Now start the Visual Composer and connect to portal and select the system

and specify the BAPI. It should give you the list.

If SSO:

Follow the above procedure except the following steps.

2. Make sure the UserManagement property is set to "SSO2LOGON"

4. Skip step 4

Hope this helps.

Hi Venkat,

Thanks for the systematic reply..........

Actually, I was doing upto 6 steps, and in the 7th step described by you, I was able to login through the Portal user ID(with which I've configured user mapping.). But, then also the system that I've created in Portal is not visible in the "Systems" list of Visual composer.

I'm using NW '04 without BI, tell me if anything is required to be done on the Portal side for accepting deployment request from Visual Composer.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,
