Hi,
Can anyone be able to guide me about visual composer issues,We have BW 3.5 installed with EP 6.0 and Oracle database.I want to know what is Composites and how to use that with Visual composer?
Second thing how can i install Visual Composer in our system?I spoke to 1 guy of SAP India and he said that there are 2 types of VC one works with Portal and another with BI.
It will be of great help if anyone can give me some notes or can clear all the above questions.
My requirement is to build one report <b>Pay when paid</b> using Visual Composer. And how can i use this tool in a more effective manner.
Thanks in advance,
Shailja Kaul.

Hi Shailja
Visual Composer is delivered and installed as an integral part of the EP usage type that is part of SAP NetWeaver 2004s SP Stack 08 and higher.
<b>Prerequistes</b>
The following hardware and software are required for installing SAP NetWeaver VisualComposer:
1. NetWeaver 2004s, SP Stack 11
2. EP usage type, installed as part of this NetWeaver installation
3. Sun Java JDK, version 1.4.2 and above, installed on the same NetWeaver server
Before you log on to and work with Visual Composer Storyboard, you should check that your Visual Composer client machine meets the following software requirements:
1. Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1 or higher
2. Microsoft XML Parser 4.0
3. Adobe SVG Viewer 3.0 or higher (downloadable from www.adobe.com/svg)
4. Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Flash plug-in, for viewing models deployed to the Flex environment
<b>Post Installation</b>
1. Assigning Authorizations
Assign the persons configuring Visual Composer Super Administrator roles and ensurethat they have the required permissions to all back-end systems that must be accessed.
2. Defining Portal Systems and Aliases
In the portal, be sure that you have created each system required for application modeling, and assigned it a system alias accordingly. For information about creating systems and aliases, see the Portal Administration Guide on SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com → Documentation → SAP NetWeaver → SAP NetWeaver 2004s → SAP Library → SAP NetWeaver Library→ SAP NetWeaver by Key
Capability → People Integration by Key Capability → Portal → Portal Administration Guide → System Administration → System Configuration → System Landscape →Creating Systems.
Map users with VC Role to a user with read permissions to the required back-end system.
3.Configuring Permissions
Use
During installation, a predefined role the VC Role is deployed in the portal as part of the initial Visual Composer content. This role has all the necessary permissions to allow a user to perform modeling tasks while working with Visual Composer Storyboard, such as create, develop, manage and deploy models to the portal. The role includes full permissions for the Visual Composer folder in the portal. Additionally, each user should be assigned Read permissions in order to access data services located on the back-end systems accessed through the portal.
<b>Creating Reports BW using VC</b>
for accessing BW 3.5 , you need to create one BW SYSTEM in portal. if the system is working properly you will get that system under FIND DATA in VC.from there you can select your query by entering the queryname or you can select query by navigating through your infoarea->infocube-query.
for creating report using VC
1. create one new model.
2. drag one new package, inside package drag one page, inside page drag one iview from COMPOSE to story board
3. drag the query to story board
4. create one start point for input of the query.
5. from output of query u can create table(Add Table view) or chart(Add Chart)

Thanks in advance,
Shailja Kaul.
Hi Shailja
you can go ahead with VC installation with above configuration,
go through the links below...
regarding EP 6.0 and netweaver 2004

if it is not working list your questions

1) Tons of material are here:
https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/VC
2) Absolut nonsense. VC is a Portal component. That means it runs in the Portal (both design and runtime) and it can connect to the BI system (and to JDBC sources, XMLA sources, ODBO sources, SAP Query, RFCs and webservices). COnnecting against the backendsystem through these connectors, you can display, manipulate and write data back.
With VC you basically create an iView, that runs either as WebDynpro or as Flash application.

Hi Mario,
I will tell you the whole scenario of Visual Composer in our company.Kindly guide me wherever i am wrong because for me this is the first time that I am working on such a great tool.
We have EP version 6.0 and BW 3.5 system currently. Our company is running SAP from past 1 year. We had discussed with SAP Germany about the composite which will be useful in our company.
We analyzed and came to a conclusion that 1 composite is really very beneficial to us.Now the guy from SAP Germany has simplified our work a lot. He created 1 transport request for back end coding and we imported that file in our development system. Next he sent us 1 gml file which we have to import.
I have installed VC 6.0 wherein i have used MSSQL database where as we have Oracle database for R/3. I consulted 2,3 people for the same and they said that VC is used during design time only and during runtime Portal will talk to R/3 directly. In that case is there any need to configure VC with Enterprise Portal and if yes how to go with the same. It has already took me 1 week to get VC installed, and now that we have accomplished Installation of VC successfully, I don't want to waste the time spent in installation. I have to run the composite in any case. But when i double click on the VC icon I am not able to view Design time environment where i have to create the model. Please guide how to configure VC with Portal and then view it via portal. Kindly help.
Regards,
Shailja Kaul.
Hi Shailja
<b>About VC installation every thing is there in this PDF.</b>
<b>To access VC you have to use following URL</b>
http(s)://<host name>:<port number>/VC
Note :- VC must be in upper case
Also you need an authorization of "VCRole"
<b>not able to view Design time environment</b>
If you are working in client machine
- Microsoft XML Parser
- Adobe SVG Viewer
<b>Viewing in portal</b>
Whenever a model is deployed, iview will be created in portal.
to view it go to portal->Content administration->portalcontent->Visualcomposer->models->yourmodel->iviews.
Please revert Back for any clarification

Please Mario put back my mail-id back again.I have seen you doing such things before also. This way you are hampering people to get the solution. You have not provided the solution but the one who is trying to help me - immediately your response comes.Avoid doing this if you have solution give it otherwise don't do it.
Some people don't want to share the docs with everyone. If anyone wants that we can share it with them but don't do things like this.It irritates a lot.I want the solution but you are creating the problem.
Please avoid this otherwise I have to escalate this matter.
There are multiple good reasons for that: I don't want old threads being opened and opened again, because somebody sent an email with the solution to somebody. This is selfish of the person asking, as nobody else gets the solution and the person offering the solution will get bothered by more people asking for that. And then they start posting their emails in the threads.
Don't forget: the SDN is a collaborative platform, and we all profit from sharing information.
In addition, by putting your email in the posting, it is open for email-harvesters and spammers. The right place to put your email is in the business card.
And if a poster is unwilling to share a document openly here, then this person shouldn't offer the document in the first place. If the person offering the document just has no time to put the document in appropriate format online, I am more than happy to do so.
Hope you understand...
Mario
