Client specific texts - TP return error during client Import

Hi

Would appriciate if anyone explain me the technical reason behind the failure of client specific texts during client import. Below, is the TP error message. How to overcome this error situation?

Please share your experience on this regard.

Hello Vinodh,

Is the target system of client copy your development system ? Please confirm this. If that is case then you need to import the transport with conditional mode <b><i><u>Overwrite originals</u></i></b>.

Thanks for your time.

Yes, the traget system is DEV.

But during client import sequence(adding TP request to the Q & importing it), I have never been asked the options of overwriting originals.... where to check this mode during client TP import?

Hello Vinodh,

Whenever you import a transport request you will select the import truck (sorry for the layman language). Then you get a pop up with 3 tabstrips:

Date, Execution and Options.

Under option you will find Overwrite originals. You need to check the check box adjacent to it.

Though I must warn you that in this case the form texts will get changed in development and will have same version as in production.

Hi Ruchit,

Its ok to use layman language ..at times we need to go back to the basics even if we have years of BASIS experience

back to the point, I do know the options that you have mentioed and I am using it on day to day basis but the fact is during client import we will not get the standard TP import screen with the options that you have mentioned.... It will have the profile we selected and the target system and I remember something called Manage client..thats it....

Those standard options of transport is not getting displayed during client TP import...

Does this hidden in any of the menus? Correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Vinodh,

You are correct.I simply overlooked that vital fact :-(. What I would suggest doing in this case is to include the entire client copy export in a transport of copies request with target as development client and then import this transport of copies into the development client. In this case you will get the options.

We had to use this transport of copies approach some time back for copying the text and it worked very well for us.
