Rz04 is the transaction to maintain operation modes.
What happens is that in your sap system you have some work processes say Dialog, Background,.....
Now you want to effectively use them. So in company specific things what they want is that more dialog processes should run in the day time and more of background processes should run in the night time. Just to full fill that they create the operation modes say day, night, etc.
Now in Sm63 you can plan the calendar for the entire day of 24 hours. You can say like from 7 am to 9 pm it should be day operation modes which has more dalog processes and remaining to be night whihc has more of background processes.
