Hi
Movement Type (Inventory Management)
Specifies a key for the type of goods movement. Each goods movement (for example, purchase order to warehouse) is allocated to a movement type in the system.
{movement typeInventory Management (MM-IM)
A classification key indicating the type of material movement (for example, goods receipt, goods issue, physical stock transfer).
The movement type enables the system to find predefined posting rules determining how the accounts of the financial accounting system (stock and consumption accounts) are to be posted and how the stock fields in the material master record are to be updated.}

Hi Jay,
For every movement of stock in SAP system, there is a Movement type that represents this,. For eg movement between of stock betweem plants has a movement type.
Now "the movement type step 1" is for when there are two movement type to happen in a SLC. For eg Third party sales, check in SLC NC, a movement type would be aasigned to it in this field as well as to movement type also.
Hope it's he;pful
