Hi folks,
I am facing an error while doing client import. I was planning for QA refresh, but ultimately decided to do a client export/import from production to QA. Export in production completed in 3 minutes, db size is around 100 gb. Created a new client in QA and while importing the tp finished with return code 16. When I compared the Z tables with PRD system, there were no entries in the Z tables copied to QA.
Can anyone suggest as what can be done for successful import or is there any alternative way to do this? This is required to be done asap.
Regards,
Sai R.
Hi Sai,
I don't know what you did here, because I do have NEVER seen an client export of 100GB in 3 minutes ! => I expect, that more or less nothing got exported ...
Z-tables .... I do hope, that your QA System contains on these Z tables as well and you are only talking on the contents of the tables that you want to copy over ...
=> This works automatically if you use something like SAPALL profile or so (if the export is successful)
You should at least export export files of 5-10% of your client size => 5-10GB - otherwise you should check the export first ...

This system is on SAP 4.6c with kernel 4.6D. I have tried the option filesplit=2000000000 also, besides I used filesplit = true|yes etc. Still I'm getting the same error. I tried using other profiles also, the transport file being created is less than 700 MB and while import it is showing 0 entries as it showed earlier for tp error 16. Now it completes successfully but import results says no change made. I tried export from other PRD client also but same results.
Kindly advice.

Hi Sai,
if you do have a current patch for your kernel & R3trans, I would open an OSS message ...
I did this several times and this worked fine with this parameter ...

Volker,
I checked the logs for export. First the export terminated after the <sid>KT9XXXX file reached 2 GB in size. For this, I referred SAP notes and changed the tp parameter filesplit = 1 from default value 0. Now when I again start the client export, it again ended with tp error saying:
============================================
Halt: maximum number of continuation files reached.
Incorrect export:Request is not imported.
============================================
I think it again has to do with tp parameters. I want to know what may be causing this error.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sai,
what SAP release are you running ? (because this should be fixed in newer releases)
you used the filesplit parameter wrong ;-((
1 means: Limit up to 1 byte per file ;-(((
Useful might be: (note 86535)
FILESPLIT = 2000000000
BUT:
This disables the good LZ compression and therefore creates about 50-90GB Export files for a 100GB client ... so you should have sufficient space in the trans directory ...
