R/3 BASIS System u0096 Initialization db connect faile

Dear Friends,

Installed the BW 3.1 successfully, when I was trying to start the BW server; the message server is starting (coming to green color) and stopping (coming to gray color)

In syslog it is displaying the below errors

R/3 BASIS System – Initialization db connect failed. Return code --- 000256

Database ORA – 12560 TNS protocol adaptor error

Database error – 12560 at CON

Please need help

Hi John,

Check that the listener is running...

At command prompt,

lsnrctl status (if its not running)

lsnrctl start

Otherwise start service Oracle<SID><ver>TNSListener at windows services MMC

Thank you very much for the reply. i checked lsnrctl status, it was completed successfully. I started services also from windows MMC, but serevr is not starting.

Hi John,

Make sure that the DB is running, also check that the port is not in use by another application,

Check host name at TNSNAMES.ora

Also Check this notes :

error messages
