No offline redo log files found for processing

Hi!

I am about to archive my redo logs.

I am getting backup to the external medium, so I am using backup_dev_type=stage

But I am getting the waring/error:

Parameter 'log_archive_dest' not found in file C:\oracle\SSM\102\database\initDEV.ora - default assumed

Parameters

And after this

No offline redo log files found for processing

BUT I am sure, I have some redo logs.

How can archive the redo logs?

Thank you very much

regards

carefully reading I should immediately have seen:

>>C:\oracle\SSM\102\database\initDEV.ora

following our notation your above path indicates:

1. that you are running two Oracle Databases (SSM,DEV) using only one Oracle_home

or

2. that you are running two Oracle Databases (SSM,DEV) with the wrong environment ORACLE_HOME is not set to the right directory - wrong user environment or user.

Hi Peter,

you are right, we have SSM and DEV running on the same host.

What is the procedure/settings to avoid this problem?

Thank you very much!

Hi Peter!

I have two ORACLE Software installed on the same host, one for Solution Manager and another for ERP 2005 System.

I have chossen not to use multiple Oracle homes, so the softwars under C:\oracle... is installed only once.

Thank you very much!

what Oracle version you are running Oracle10 ?

if yes there might be a different problem:

Oracle10 is normaly configured to use and SPFILE.

br*tools will generate the old PFILE (initDEV.ora) from the SPFILE but only if the process is allowed to write and delete in %ORACLE_HOME%\database.

can you check the br*tools logfiles if there any warnings / errors regarding file handling of files located in the database directory?

If you´re "sure", where are they if not in that directory?

check %ORACLE_HOME%oraarch if they are there - if yes, put that directory in the initDEV.ora
