Most probably u are asking about the significance of header division and item division in the sales order.

Header division belong to the division to which the customer belongs to and item division is the division to which the materials in the sales order belong to.

The division at the item level can differ from the header as customer can buy goods from any division.

HiDefinition

A division is an organizational unit based on responsibility for sales or profits from saleable materials or services.

Use

Divisions have two main applications: They are organizational units for Sales and Distribution, and they are necessary for business area account assignment for logistics transactions in Financial Accounting. Divisions can be used to describe specific product groups and can form the basis for sales statistics, for example.

Divisions are not used for any functions developed specifically for SAP Retail. However, a single dummy division is provided where necessary.

Integration

Articles are assigned uniquely (client-wide) to one division.

Divisions are assigned to sales organizations.

For each combination of sales organization and division there is a reference division for customer and article master data, and also for condition data and sales document types. This allows the data in the reference division to be used in the original division too.

Definition

In the SAP R/3 System you can define a division-specific sales organization. Product groups, i.e. divisions, can be defined for a wide-ranging spectrum of products.

For every division you can make customer-specific agreements on, for example, partial deliveries, pricing and terms of payment. Within a division you can carry out statistical analyses or set up separate marketing procedures.

dear bharat,

Item division:

This indicator allows the system to copy item division from its Material Master, if you do not set this indicator, item division differ with Header division; system automatically copies Header division for all the line items in the sales order

Hi Bharat,

Item Division is the division which we maintain in Material Master.

Sales Division is the division by which you are doing all your sales transactions / process.

For example you can create a material in one division, and you can sell under other division ( which you give while creating Sales Documents).

Hope this is clear.

REWARD IF HELPFUL.

Hi Bharat,

From where have you picked these terms???

To my knowledge in SAP we have only division which is grouping of products or services in a particular manner. Every product can belong to only one division and can be used for statistical analysis.
