Opening Telnet Port (23) in a Linux hosted partition

Hi,

We've got linux installed (SUSE) and can get to it throught tenet via port 2301. I'm trying to figure out how to open up port 23 so we can telnet directly into the partition. The purpose of the Linux partition is to run Live Cache (not available for i5OS).

Best regards,

Craig

Hello Craig,

I used to have SuSE on my laptop, but never use the one on Power.

Do you have YaST (based on gnome or KDE)? Go to the Security/firewall menu and enable telnet there.

Or if you have access to console, vi /etc/xinetd.d/telnet and change "disable" to "no", then rcxinetd restart and chkconfig xinetd on.

Sorry that I don't have any access to SuSE now... Hope it helps.

Best regards,

Victor
