You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
The 7.10 GUI has a "Wizard" feature. When it is turned on, the "Groups" button does not appear in SAPLogon. To change this:
1) Click on the Top Left Hand Corner of SAPLogon 7.10
2) Choose Options
3) Uncheck "With Wizard
4) Click OK and you will be asked to restart your GUI.
You should now see the Groups button.
Hope this helps.

Assuming you have already created the logon groups in SMLG...
Add sapms<SID> 36xx/tcp to your local services file.
ex..my system is BP0 00 so...sapmsBP0 3600/tcp
Then go to Saplogon 7.10 > New Item > User Specified Systems...
In Connection Type drop down - select Group/Server Selection
Enter fields...
Description - Verbage to be presented on the Saplogon Gui screen
System ID - <your SID>
Message Server - hostname, full hostname or IP of the SAP Server
SAPRouter - skip it for now
Group/Server - press the drop down menu and it should find your logon group(s)
If not add a SAPRouter string....my format is..
/M/<hostname, full or IP>/S/<port# - normally 3600>/<logon group name>
then try the drop down menu from the Group/Server field again...
Good Luck...

Also check if you have the sapmsxxx 330x entry on your local /etc/services file

Hi Praveen,
Message server location should be defined in windows directory.
Create <b>sapmsg.ini</b> file in windows/winnt directory and content of the file should be..
<b>[Message Server]</b>
<b>10.0.5.1</b> IP address of the message server
Now open GUI logon pad goto new item, there you will find from groups.
This works.

Hi Pravenn
Im not sure why you don´t have the "Groups" option, I have installed the SAPGUI 710 and I see the following options:
Groups
Server
User define
Modify entry
Delete entry
You have installed the SAPGUI on your PC or you are using that on for example Terminal Server?

Hi Praveen,
You have to create logon group at sap level using t-code SMLG.
When you goto new item in GUI from group option you will find groups created by SMLG. Select the group and add.

Hello Praveen,
i guess you are using SAP GUI 7.10.In that case proceed as follows:
Select new item. Then select next. Then select Group server selection and then populate the values accordingly. However before that the services files in all the presentation servers must have this kind of entry:
sapms<sid> 36XX/tcp
where XX is system/instance number of message server.
Service file is normally located at
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Also after making this entry do press an enter and then only save.
