archive_stage: pipe2file timed out

Former Member

Hello,

I use the following skript for archiving

dbmcli -u control,control -d $SID -uUTL -c <<EOF

(step-1) archive_stage $ARCHIVE_MEDIUM $LOG_MEDIUM NOVERIFY KEEP

(step-2) archive_stage_repeat $ARCHIVE_MEDIUM2 $LOG_MEDIUM VERIFY

EOF

If step_1 fails and step_2 succeed I get only 1 log_backup and afterwards

the log wil be deleted.

As I see in dbm.ebl or *.ssa it seems that the pipe2file-cmd timed out. This happens only one or two times a day likely because highload of the backup-Server.

*.ssa:

-snip-

Waiting for end of the backup operation.

2007-07-30 16:30:01 The backup tool is running.

2007-07-30 16:30:01 Pipe2file is running.

2007-07-30 16:30:02 The backup tool process has finished work with return code 2.

2007-07-30 16:30:06 Pipe2file is running.

2007-07-30 16:30:16 Pipe2file is running.

2007-07-30 16:30:31 Pipe2file is running.

2007-07-30 16:30:51 Pipe2file is running.

<b>Killing not reacting pipe2file process</b>.

Pipe2file killed successfully.

2007-07-30 16:31:03 The pipe2file process has finished work with return code -1.

The backup operation has ended.

snip-

Is there any way to avoid this situation/change the timeout-value for the pipe2file-cmd

best Regards Uwe

Hello,

We are installing ERP2005 on solaris 10 with MAXDB7.6 with build 35. During installtaion the Import ABAP phase stucks and running for a so long time. As per the note SAPNOTE :848436 we have been trying to execute the statment

CHECK TABLE "/MAXDB/INDEXSTATEMENTS" WITH LONG CHECK.

which may free up the load for installation.

But we are unable to execute the above SQL statement.

It is very urgent since we are not able to complete the installation from past 3 days....

Could you please some one able to help us to finish the installation. I am very

much greatful to you all..
