Does anyone know if NetWeaver is compatible with the HR module in 4.7C? NetWeaver will be used for ESS/MSS only. I've been told that R/3 has to be upgraded to ERP2004 in order for NetWeaver to function correctly, otherwise Portal 6.0 is the best option if remaining in 4.7C.
Hello Doug,
In the Portal Content Portfolio you will find the
Business Package for Employee Self-Service 4.6C - 4.7
this BP is able to use as primary backend system the 4.6C and 4.7 (HR of course)
As a front-end Portal you can use from EP 5.0 to NW EP 7.0 due to the business packages ESS and MSS designed for 4.6C and 4.70 are also compatible with the portal version NW'04 and NW2004s
I hope this clarify your doubts
Best Regards,
Luis

Hi Alex,
ERP 2004 is based on Netweaver '04 but connectivity with R3 versions 46C or 47 is not an issue at all for Netweaver '04. EP is also part of Netweaver, so it's one and the same thing if you are using EP you are using Netweaver.
Cheers,
Sanjeev

Hi,
I am not too sure that NW04 will work in all aspects with 4.7 backend. For instance the latest MSS business package calls Function modules that reads a new form of the Object and Data Provider. Thus will not work with an older version than ECC 5. You are off course free to install the older XSS business packages on a EP 7 (NWo4s) portal. This will probably work, but will give the older look and feel and not use the WebDynpro technology.
Does anyone else have an opinion on the compatibility between NW04s (with latest XSS business packs) and 4.7 backend?
DJ
Hi,
We don't use ESS, but made our own BSP app (because a ESS was only ITS when we started our project) within NW04 and consulatble via EP 6. Our BSP app connects to 4.7 (EE) without any problem.
