Can one have batch splits in the delivery? When are they relevant?
You can do batch split manually/ auto in the delivery.
To do it manually, select the item in the delivery and then selct Batch split tab at the bottom. Now you can split the toatal qauntity in the batches available.
Remember to maintain the item category determination for batch split items at the delivery item category level with USAGE CHSP.
Cheers

Dear Rajesh,
As I had mentioned in my previous reply, batch-splits are used to maintain the batches in the delivery. The advantage of this is that you can keep track of which batch was sold and what is the stock of that batch.
E.g. if you sell a medicine, say aspirin. By law, this should be manufactured in batches meaning a certain quantity is manufactured together at the same time, thereby having the same properties e.g. quantity of aspirin content or weight per tablet. This means batch A of 1000 tablets will have same qty of aspirin say 1.002 gm, and has the same size per tablet say 1.500 gm. Batch B of another 1000 tablets might have slightly different properties, e.g. 1.004gm of aspirin and weight is 1.502 gm per tablet. Another property is date of manufacture (most most important).
When you sell 2000 tablets out of total stock of 10,000 pcs, you can either record that you sold only 2000 tablets irrespective of the batch. The problem here is that after delivering these 2000 tablets, your inventory will only show 8000 tablets, without know what is the batch. Therefore you will not be able to sell as per FIFO principle and might be left with expired tablets in your stock.
If you use batch split, then you can mention in the delivery as below:
Item Material Batch Qty
0010 Aspirin A 1000
0020 Aspirin B 1000
Because of this, the inventory of each batch will be reduced by the above quantity.
Also another possibility is that with batch-split in the delivery, you can bill the two batches with different prices.
Hope this clarifies. This is the best I can do.

Nikhilesh
Hi! Rajesh
Yes,a batch split can be done even at delivery level.
Batch det is done automatically/manually.
Batch Det is done mainly in Pharma and Food industries inorder to keep an eye at the quality level and what batch has been delivered to the customer.
Bye.

Hi Rajesh,
Definitely it is possible to have batch splits in the delivery. It can be automatic (based on the result of automatic batch determination) or manual where you can enter the picked batches manually.
They are relevant e.g. in the pharma or food industry where goods are sold in batches, and you want to keep track of which batch was sold to which customer. Also stocks are maintained in batches.
Hope this answers,

Nikhilesh
