Hi,
I'm trying to run my SAP GUI on a Macbook Pro so as to connect to the SAP IDES system. I have downloaded the latest GUI 7.00rev4 and have successfully installed it. I notice that I do need a configuration file for this to run. The Help on the GUI says you need three files for this which may look something like this:
config.ini
central config file
@MESSAGESERVER = http://acme.com/msg.ini
@ROUTER = http://acme.com/rout.ini
Accounting : conn=/R/PRD/G/Finance
Sales : conn=/R/PRD/G/Logistics
msg.ini
message server list
PRD : /M/srv1.acme.com/S/3601
DEV : /M/srv2.acme.com/S/3602
TST : /M/srv3.acme.com/S/3602
rout.ini
saprouter list
Partners : /H/gate.acme.com/S/3299
Ok, till now I understand that I should create these three (.ini) files and give their location instead of the URL. What do these letters R, M, G, S stand for? Router, Message, ...., Server?? And what do the numbers 3601, 3602 mean?...Ports or something?
I have the following SAP IDES information:
Server number
System Id
System No.
UserID
Password
I'm stuck at this point, so any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jay.
Hello Jay,
your questions are not really Mac specific and should go to the , which is discussing similar questions.
The "magic" with the R, M, S etc. is explained in chapter 9.1 "Technical Background - Connection Strings" included in the manual which is coming as part of SAP GUI for Java.
For your specific case making a direct connection to an application server without using load balancing (message server), the connection string could look like
conn=/H/appserver.acme.com/S/3200
(replace appserver.acme.com and 3200 with your name of the WebAS and port number, portnumber usually is 3200 + system number)
You can enter this in the "new connection" dialog using the "Advanced" tab.
Best regards
Rolf-Martin
