Hi,

Do I have to pay a licence fee if I :

1. Design and interactive form ( using form designer which comes with NWDS )

2. Submit form value to my custom java program

3. Process interactive form data with my custom Java programs ( probably web service) and use it in workflow using Guided Procedures

( I will not use ADS in any step )

Regards

Abdul.

hi,

you have pay liscence fees..

when you use your application for production use.

(like sell your application to a client)

othewise developers can configure ADS for their own personal learning.

even the credential file was available on sdn few days back.

but that was programmed to work for few days only.

when you dont use Liscensed products.

A huge message is written across ur PDF form

<b>"Not for production use"</b> so that whoever uses it...

knows that the interactive form was not created using liscensed versions.

Hello,

You don't need to pay any additional fees. Just raise ticket to get the development license (not for production use).

Refer the note - 750784 for details.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I have already checked note 750784 but it is not clear for my case.

As I said, I will not touch ADS. Forms will not be generated by ADS. I will design my form in Adobe Designer and submit form data ( like any other http form ) to my own java programs.

I will only use "Adobe Designer" which is supplied by SAP. All others are my custom developed programs. I will not even configure ADS.

Actual question is;

Do I have to pay for "Adobe Designer" if I use it to design forms?

If yes; what happens if I already bought a "Adobe Designer" licence from Adobe ?

Thanks for helpful answers.

Abdul.

You'll find a trial set of credentials for Adobe Document Services here on SDN at this link:

Hi,

I am not sure, how you are going to work without ADS.

ADS is required to render the form output. You need to do the configuration at the Java stack in the WAS to make the forms run. Its part of configuration and not a deveopment tool.

Hope this helps,

Hi Antony,

I will design a simple form on Adobe Designer and I will submit this form to my own servlet by setting "submit" button properties and in my servlet I will read submitted http form data. I don't need to use ADS for this simple scenario.

Thanks.

Hello,

if you use an interactive form in production, does not metter how simple it is, you have to pay license fees. Please contact your local SAP sales vendor, they will be able to inform you better in this matter.

Hi Abdul,

You don't have to pay for a credential unless you use new Interactive Forms in productive environments.

By new Interactive Forms, I mean new ones, created from scratch or SAP standard with data content modified (for instance, adding a logo is not considered as a modification).

More explanation on this with SAP note 736902.

The Reader rights, enabled by the ADS at runtime, allow data exchange in the form so in your case, no data will be sent to your servlet if the form is not rendered by ADS...

Don't hesitate if you have additional questions,

Regards,
