Account Groups !!!

Former Member

Hi Everyone..

In customizing, I have found two paths regarding account groups..

1. IMG - Financial Accounting --> Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable --> Customer Accounts --> Master Data --> Preparations for Creating Customer Master Data --> Define Account Groups with Screen Layout (Customers)

and

2. IMG - Logistics General --> Business Partner --> Customers --> Control --> Define Account Group & Field Selection For Customers.

What is the difference bw these two transactions ??

Which one is relevant for a SD consultant ??

Regards

Harvinder

Hi Harry,

No distinguishing in terms of SD or MM or FI.

The one which best serves the purpose should be used by any Consultant.

Both ways , we can control the customer master.

Hi Harry,

In 1st Menu Path:

In the first Screen of XD01 we have the Mandatory fileds like Account Group, Company Code, Sales Organisation, Distribution channe, Division etc., you can make the about said fields as Mandatory fieds of Iniatial screen of XD01.

In 2nd Menu Path:

Once you go to the main screen of XD01 where you find the 3 Important data like General Data, Company Code data and Sale Area Data.the Fields Consists in these Respective Data you can make the necessary fields with avialable options like Mandatory, Surpress, Optional etc.,

Mean to say the as per your requirment which every field you want you can make that field Mandatory or supress or Optional etc.,

Hope this clarifies your doubts and Please Reward if Really Helpful,

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Harry,

Those Two paths will take you to same place. But the thing is we means SD consultants normally follow the second path.

The first path is normally used by FI consultants.

Becuse, in normally, some times users wont be having authorizations to use other module related paths. Where as Logistics General is most commonly used by all the consultants.

So we have to follow that one only.

Hope this will give you some idea.

REWARD IF HELPFUL.

Hi Harry

Both are same and both can be used. If we use the first one, we can configure only the field controls for account group, The second one in tcode OVT0 it gives some more controls like text procedure, output procedure, partner determn procedure and over all the customer pricing procedure too, which if needed can be configured directly in OVT0. Else we can use the first tcode itself to configure only the account groups, leaving others to be filled only during master data creation.

Dear Harvinder,

You can achieve the same thing with both the transactions. You can define account groups with screen layout using both the navigations.

1st one is used by FI consultants. 2nd by MM/SD/.. consultants.

Second one is more relevant to the SD consultant as you have more controls than the one before.

More controls in terms of assigning Partner function, Text determination procedure etc.
