Hey,

Currently i am on EP too and to be frank XI has been much more interesting that EP unless you lyk too much of java programming.

Enterprise Portal -> Provides complete <b>Portal Infrastructure</b> tools combine with robust Knowledge Mangement and collaboration Functionalilty.

With enterprise portal employees, Partner have a instant, secure and role based access to the information and application they need. Employees can identify and resolve business issues faster and in a effective way resulting in measurable benefit and strategic advantage.

XI deals more with defining integration process. Where as EP is used for creating portals that interact easily with SAP R/3 again a sap strategy to promote itz product.

EX:Consider a SOAP -> XI -> R/3 scenario. Here the SOAP application can be a Webservice currently used by a PORTAL and this portal can be a webdynpro.

Broadly EP can be divided into 3 parts.

Hello,

Can you pls elaborate SOAP -- XI --- R/3 scenario using EP.

Because till now I have made this scenario by two approaches in xi

1. HTTP --- XI --- R/3

2. Java Client Proxy --- XI -- R/3.

Hey,

Suppose if you have a portal application that is using webservice ex is a Request for employee details sent through portal to xi now xi has to fetch this data from r/3 application using a BAPI and the response received from R/3 is sent back to portal by xi.

In SAP Netweaver stack XI comes under Process Integration , but EP comes under People Integartion

1.Pls tell me what is EP

EP (Enterprise Portal ) we can create role bases user interface for any application ,

there are different way in EP to develop the application like Web Dynpro , HTMLB etc.

2. Why I need EP when I have XI

EP is for develop application via role based , Xi is for Integartion between different application / systems
