How to fine tune the performnce of Adobe - WebDynpro Java

Former Member

Hi Experts,

Upon deploying an Adobe - WebDynpr Java application on my local NWDW machine having 2 GB RAM, it takes around 10 minutes by watch before the PDF form appears on the screen with the populated data.

This is really depressing as the client will surely not accept this.

Any tips on fine tuning the performance of Adobe online applications?

Regards,

Shobhit

hi,

ask your server admin to restart the j2ee engine once.

this should solve the problem.

hi,

when the J2EE engine is running...

goto task manager....

see performance.

if the memory usage is more than the memory you have installed,

that means you are using virtual memory...(ie. hard disk as RAM)

try shutting down any excess processes which you are not using.

(CAUTION: shut down only those processes which you know)

Summary is:-

check if you are on virtual memory.

because if you are using virtual memory....

you are falling short of RAM.

our server also has 2 GB RAM, but it works fine(including Interactive forms)

hi,

If you are using Adobe Reader 8.0.

switch to version 7.0.x....immediately.

your problem should be solved.

Hi Amol,

Ya even I thought the Adobe Reader version is a problem. But now Im confused. The recently released note 834573 says that Adobe Reader 8.1 MUST be used for WD based interactive forms.

Now which one..7.0.9 or 8.1?? To get this stuff installed,it takes a lot of time because of security reasons at my client location.

Thanks,

hi,

we are using 7.0.1

its working cool.

to be on the safe side use 7.0.x

as you are saying version 8.0 is time taking.

the reader is installed on the client right.

(the machine on which application is run,

adobe reader of the same machine is used)

test ur application on different clients having different versions of the reader.

one having 8.0, one having 7.0.x.

you will know the difference yourself

Hello,

please use reader 8.1.

This version is fully supported by SAP and Adobe and has a lot of improvements. Also the performance should be much better than older versions.

If you have problem with the performance after this, please tell us your ADS SP level.

Hello,

Check if you have installed SP11 Patch 1 version of ADS.

It contains a fix, what improves the performance of rendering.

May I ask how many pages you are trying to render?

Best regards,

Dezso
