Hi All

can you please let me know the concept of named Searches, what exactly the named searches is?

I read some info. on this, but still not very clear.

Can you kindly focus more light on these concepts with some example and explain why the names searches make the search easier??

Thank you very much in advance.

Leo,

Named Searches allow you to set multiple search parameters and then save them to the Named Search. This allows you to pull up these search results again without having to make all of the selections again.

This is a snapshot from the Data Manager Reference Guide.

"Named Searches

A single flat table named Named Searches. A named search is a

static snapshot of the search selections that were in effect when

the named search was created (as opposed to a mask, which is a

snapshot of the subset of records), where the results set itself is

determined dynamically when it is selected. Each record in the

Named Searches table returns a subset of main table records.

MDM supports an unlimited number of named searches."

Hope this helps,

Tim

Hi Leo,

in order to use Named Searched you need to add a record in the Named search Tables using MDM Data Manager.

Then when you make a search, you can select Save As named Search from the Serach Menu and select the name you created previously . The next time everyone can use the shortcut to launch that search in the Named Search Tab.

Another type od serach is the local search, but the scope is restricted to the user that save the serach.

Hope this help you.
