as per current scenario securities in enterprise level handled by third party company (& components like VIRSA), while sap is providing so many tools for BASIS people (like NWDI mgmt., GRC, SSO etc). Having knowledge of these will be helpful.

SAP Security is part of Basis Administration, if you have a background in system administration like creating users, granting file access permissions, creating user/group roles etc, it should not be difficult for you grasp quickly.
