SAPService<SID> and domain users group

Hi @ all,

i am performing a netweaver java on windows 2003 installation. On the server we don't have the rights for local users, so I gave the windows administrator the installation guide (sap java on windows, oracle). There is a chapter "performing domain installation without being a domain administrator".

They did all steps which are mentioned there. One step is deleting the SAPService user from the domain users group. But now the installation crashes with the following log:

WARNING 2007-07-24 14:13:29
Existing account XXXXXXXXXXSAPService<XXX> is not a
member of group XXXXXXXXXXDomänen-Benutzer. Changing membership of account.
ERROR 2007-07-24 14:13:30

ind|ind|ind|ind|1|0|NW_Users_Create_Do|ind|ind|ind|ind|
5|0|createAccounts was executed with status ERROR .

As a workaround told the windows admins to add the SAPService to the domain users group. Now there is still the question why this happened?

I am looking forward to read your useful answers

Best regards

Christian

hello Christian,

is this 6.40? 7.00?

did you check

<a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/786608">note 786608</a>

part

28/JUN/05 3 FSL-01006: Unable to add account to group

Hi Yaroslav,

it is a 7.00.

The reason mentioned in the note could be possible....they use win 2000 active directory. But moreover the installation user has not the right to change the domain users group.

Beside the failure itself I am interested in the reason why the system wants to add the service user to this group...the guide says explicit that you have to remove it from this group.

Regards,

Christian

Hi Yaroslav,

I think you refer to note Note 967123 (SAP NetWeaver 7.0 / Business Suite 2005 SR2: Windows) with the correction for the inst guide

There I have found the remark from 29/JAN/06!

I checked this note before the installation, but I think have read the information over.

Thanks a lot!

Christian
