Reward points for help
Siddharth Sridhar
Hi Siddharth,
If the Route is already Exist, in this case if the route should be get in sales order Manually. In this case you no need to go for Automatic Route Determination ( Route Determination ) just
Maintain the Route with the specifications like the Route Name, Descriptiion, the Shipping Type and Transit time ( In Days ) and Travel Duration ( In Hours ).these are all need to maintain. If Required Legs ( Departure Point and Destination Point)
But the Client is asking for this Route they want Automatic Route Determination then we have to maintian Route Determination.
MENU PATH :- IMG --> S&D --> Basic Funtions --> Routes --> Define Routes -->
Routes Determination --> Maintain Route Determination --> Here Do the Following
C.DEP DEP.ZONE DST.COUNTRY DEC ZONE DESCRIPTION
In - India 0000000001 India 0000000001 India - South Zone
Select this and Double Click Route Determination W.O.Weight group ( Order) Here maintained the Following
SC Description Tgroup Proposed Routes Description
01 Road 0001 xxxxxx xxxxxxxxx.
Please also ensure that Shipping point determination should be set for this.
Hope this clarifies your Doubts and Please Reward If Really Helpful,
Thanks and Regards,
Sateesh.Kandula

hi siddharth,
there can be many situation where in u need a new route determination.for example, intially the total weight of an order is let us say 10tonns n is allowed in a particular route.
at the time of delivery if the customer asks u to add 5 more tonns of the material to the same shipment n wants to be delivered.but, 15tonns is not allowed in the route which was determined in first instance.then, u will have to choose a different route.
another example could be that, ur customer initially wanted the goods to be delivered by a truck n later change his mind n may ask u to send the same by a train.
the above mentioned r simple examples.in real time there can be more complex situations where u need to go for new route determination.

hi
Route Determination is an important activity in sap as the material has to be delivered to customer.. if routes are not determined how would the system know from how and where the goods are to be delivered....
route determination will define a standard route for the material transportation..
chk the link below, u can have a better idea of the usage of Route Determination

Hi,
Define New Route Determination By Delivery Type
In this IMG activity, you determine for each delivery type whether or not route determination should be repeated by the SAP System when creating a delivery.
If route determination should be repeated, you can have the SAP System check whether the actual route found for the delivery is allowed instead of the original proposed route (see section "Define allowed actual routes for each proposed route").
Requirements
The delivery types must already be defined. The defined delivery types are automatically displayed for maintenance.
Actions
1. Check for which delivery types new route determination is necessary.
2. Specify for each delivery type whether route determination should be repeated and whether a found actual route should be checked to ascertain whether it is allowed.
Reward points if useful
