BRBACKUP wasn't able to switch requested tablespace in BEGIN/END BACKUP mod

Backups started failing recently (had been working just fine) for production BW database. This is brbackup, Oracle 10.2.0.2 on AIX 5.3 using TSM.

Partway through the backup, it fails with the log messages below.

I verified all tablespaces can be switched in and out of backup mode, and that before the backup all tablespaces are out of backup mode and all tables online.

The datafile indicated was successfully backed up after it was added.

The error does not occur in the same place every time.

I ran the backup during a different time slot but same issue.

Any input would be appreciated.

Just a quick shot: do you use the latest BR*tools version?

Yes, BRTOOLS 7.00 (11)

The latest BR*TOOLS patchlevel is 27:

DBATL700O10_27-20000979.SAR DBATOOLS Package for Oracle 10g 27

Your version is from 2006-01-11.

Try with the new one, many fixes have been incorporated:

http://service.sap.com/patches

--> SAP NetWeaver

--> SAP NETWEAVER 2004S

--> Entry by Component

--> Application Server ABAP

--> SAP KERNEL 7.00 64-BIT

--> AIX 64bit

--> ORACLE

If the error still persist, I'd open an OSS call on this issue.

An online backup with the new brbackup 7.00 (27) worked just fine.

Couldn't re-create the scenario in any of the other 3 BW environments we have.

Strange and a little unsettling that it 'just started happening out of the blue' in a production environment with no changes occuring in the environment.

Thanks for the feedback!

This is really strange...

you use the same BR*TOOLS version on the other three BW servers?

Yes, we were using the same 7.0 patch 11 on all BW environments. To be consistent, all the BW's now have the 7.0 patch 27 version. But the situation only occurred in one environment.
